Mediator, Qualified Arbitrator, Parenting Coordinator and Counsellor

Cheryl is a driven Mediator, Qualified Arbitrator, Parenting Coordinator and Counseling Professional with a strong background in providing conflict resolution. Cheryl is resourceful in gathering relevant information regarding disputes, that is essential in guiding both individuals/families and groups to reach satisfactory agreements and settle complicated issues. Cheryl is an empathetic and self-directed counsellor with excellent active listening and verbal communication skills, that enable her to help facilitate families, couples, and individuals pinpoint underlying emotions that trigger instability and conflict to establish goals and objectives to help clients build healthy and positive personal and coparenting relationships.

Cheryl graduated top of her class from York University with two degrees, a Specialized Honour B.A. in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Education. Cheryl was honoured to receive multiple Bursary Awards for her academic excellence while pursuing her two degrees congruently.  Cheryl also graduated Magna Cum Laude from Herzing College in both her certifications in Arbitration and Mediation. Which has further complemented Cheryl’s more than 17 years of experience within the realm of children, education, and families.

Cheryl has extensive, personal, and professional experience with how the litigation process can exacerbate and perpetuate the current conflict that led to the marriage breakdown and how it can foster new conflicts which can forever plague the co-parenting relationship. Cheryl is committed to contributing to a vibrant family dispute resolution community and helping families come to a resolution governed by the principal of “do no harm” so that families can obtain a fair resolution without unnecessary expense or delay, and one that supports them in their journey to freedom from violence, conflict, and further trauma; thus, allowing relationships to be mended and achieve lasting results.

Along with practicing Arbitration, Mediation, Parenting Coordinating and Counselling, Cheryl is an instructor for Herzing College, teaching and mentoring future Arbitrators and Mediators.  Most Recently, Cheryl was honoured to be featured in the December 2021 issue of Lawyer Monthly, where a 4-page editorial was done on Cheryl and her views on modernizing and reforming our Family Law Judicial System; along with being part of an on-camera CBC news story on Family Law, domestic violence and the effects on families and children.

Aside from Cheryl’s passion and commitment to her work, Cheryl is mother of 2 amazing children. Cheryl has gone playing rugby and coaching elementary girls’ volleyball, managing her husband’s men’s softball team, to being an active member of the coaching team for her son’s 11U A Rep baseball team.  Cheryl enjoys taking to the outdoors for hikes and play with her family and her Giant Schnauzer Roxy, as a great reward for Roxy’s hard work and dedication to her education and work as a Psychiatric Service Dog (PSA) for PTSD.
